1000 Mile Travel Group (1000MTG) is a global network of highly experienced independent travel experts specialising in corporate, leisure and group travel.
Founded in 2015 by experienced Australian travel professionals and life partners Ben Ross and Nicola Veltman, our host agency model was designed specifically to meet the unique needs of independent corporate travel advisors – a niche we felt was under-represented in the host agency sector.
Following our acquisition by Corporate Travel Management (CTM) Group in 2022, we’ve grown exponentially, expanding into the UK and USA, and evolving to incorporate the leisure and group travel markets, alongside our corporate stronghold.

Meet JoAnna. Coming from a background of bricks-and-mortar agency experience, JoAnna says the best thing about running her own business, J Luxe Travel, is the freedom to focus on the type of travel style she wants to design for her clients whether it’s groups, cruises, guided tours, or independent travel.
An experienced leisure travel agent, JoAnna felt it was time for a change and was drawn to 1000 Mile Travel Group because it gave her access to everything she needed to start her own business. “They have a great group of account managers to guide you through the process and assist if required, along with all resources to get you started.”
An adventurer at heart, JoAnna loves doing things she’s never done before, like Great White Shark cage-diving, and experiencing new and unique cultures. Her newest love though is her one-year-old nephew who she spends as much time with as possible.

Ben Ross – Founder & CEO
Ben’s mission is to get out of bed each day to help independent travel agents walk the road less traveled by turning their careers into successful businesses and providing them with a flexible lifestyle, giving them more time with their friends and family, and financial freedom while doing what they love. Having achieved the goal of creating a network of successful independent travel business owners, his next aspiration is to make 1000 Mile Travel Group the number 1 ‘work from anywhere’ global network for independent travel advisors.
With 20 years’ experience in the travel industry, Ben knows and respects hard work but also values bringing fun to both his family and business.
Ben’s personal goal is to travel to as many countries as possible. Nearly at the magical 100-mark, Ben’s mantra is that “life is about pushing yourself and not letting anyone else tell you what you can and can’t do, personally or professionally.”
Nicola Veltman – Founder & CEO
A humanitarian at heart, Nicola’s biggest aim is to be a great example to those around her, whether it’s her children, siblings, team or 1000 Mile Travel Group’s network of independent travel advisors.
Drawing on inspiration from her entrepreneur father, who passed when she was 22, Nicola’s mantra is to not sweat the small stuff and continue to climb the mountain because “what you find along the way can be just as good as what’s on top”.
Nicola lists her children and establishing a company that brings so much positive change to people’s lives as her two greatest achievements. With 20 years’ experience in the travel industry, Nicola’s ultimate personal goal is to co-author a children’s book with her young daughter, who shares the same ambition.
