Wizz Air has confirmed that it will launch flights from its new Cardiff base on 30 July after the Welsh  Government announced yesterday that it will lift the mandatory self-isolated for travellers from amber countries on 19 July.

The airline will operate flights from Cardiff to Alicante, Corfu, Faro, Heraklion, Palma de Mallorca, Larnaca and Tenerife.

Flights to Lanzarote will follow in October and Sharm el-Sheikh in November.

Wizz Air UK Managing Director Owain Jones said: “We have been busy planning the start of Wizz Air UK’s new base at Cardiff Airport and are excited to be launching flights to seven sunshine destinations just in time for the summer holiday season.

“We have been recruiting new colleagues to join our Wizz Air UK Cardiff team, and our crews are looking forward to welcoming customers onboard Wales’ new hometown airline.”
