TUI UK has added 1,000 hotels for summer 2025 in response to an increase in demand for alternative durations to traditional seven-, 10- and 14-night holidays.

The operator says nine-night stays are currently the top-selling ‘odd number’ holiday length for summer 2024.

The biggest increases are sales of twelve-night holidays, up 294% year-on-year, and eight-night stays, up 231%. Six-night holidays are up 188% and five-night stays up 30%.

Overall, bookings for alternative durations are up 61% on last year, driven mostly by demand from families, who account for 123% of flexible bookings. The most popular destinations are the Balearics, Greece, Turkey, Canaries and mainland Spain.

In addition, TUI said demand for free kids’ places are up for summer 2024 by 11% compared to the previous year.

The new hotels can be booked for five, six, eight, nine or 12 nights, with departures from 20 regional airports.

Commercial Director Phill Iveson said: “The increase in alternative durations speaks to the continued demand we are seeing for flexibility and choice in travel. People want travel options that work for their unique lives, and we continuously look at how they want to holiday. Offering varied durations is just one part of that.

“The additional hotels on sale for next summer are testament to the positive bookings we’ve seen across seasons.”
