A Lancashire travel agent who set up her Explorer Travel franchise just as the UK entered its first COVID lockdown has celebrated her 100th booking.
Former bistro manager Mandy Blanthorn set up her homeworking agency, Your World Travel, in March 2020. Within days travel had ground to a halt as COVID spread around the world.
But the agent, now part of the Hays Travel network which acquired Explorer Travel last year, doggedly pushed through, even securing a £50,000 booking to Kenya.
Mandy, based in Lytham St Annes, thanked colleagues after hitting the milestone booking.
“Having my own travel franchise allows me to do what I love, whilst working the hours that suit me,.” She said. “I have loads still to learn and would never say I am fully confident that I know all the answers.
“The beauty of having the support of the business development team at Explorer, the wider Hays group and my other Explorer franchise colleagues, makes life so much easier.’’
