Independent agent Sam Smith Travel, based in Crowbridge in south Wales, has ceased trading as an ATOL holder.

The agency specialised in tailormade tours, focusing mainly on South Africa and Jordan, and in sports team travel and team supporter services.

It also traded under the names Canvas and Compass Travel, Jordan Tours, Petra Pilgrimages, Strachan Sports Travel and Strachan Travel.  

Its packages are understood to be ATOL-protected and the Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement: “We are currently collating information from the company and will update this page as soon as possible.”

Sam Smith Travel was a member of both ABTA and Advantage Travel. The company, which has a shop in Crowbridge, was not answering its phone this morning.
