Debate: Charleston’s new International African American Museum

The British Guild of Travel Writers’ next #BGTWTalksTravel event will be a debate hosted by Explore Charleston about the pioneering International African American Museum opening in the city in 2022. Four experts from the Charleston area will discuss the museum’s likely impact/legacy, what it means for heritage tourism and the importance of travel narratives – particularly relevant in a city where at least 40% of enslaved Africans arrived during the transatlantic slave trade.
