Day trippers to Venice will have to pay €5 to visit the city, after the city’s authorities agreed an entry price.
It was announced last year that the city was considering charging an entry fee in a bid to manage overcrowding.
The €5 single-entry ticket must be paid and booked in advance online.
Euronews reports Venice’s Deputy Mayor for Tourism Simone Venturini said: “The aim is to discourage one-day tourism, hit-and-run tourism, arriving in one day and leaving in the same day, tiring and stressing the city, and encouraging slower tourism instead.”
