Intrepid Travel is giving away five trips to Vietnam to the travel trade’s top fundraisers in its annual charity event.

The operator’s Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, which is now in its sixth year, raises funds for Vietnam’s Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation providing rescue care, shelter, legal advocacy and long-term support to victims of human trafficking.

This year’s walk takes place on 10 September and brings together fundraisers from more than 15 countries. Participants can sign up to walk as an individual or as part of a team. All funds go directly to Blue Dragon and Intrepid wants to raise £128,000 globally.

For the first time, this year the top two individual fundraisers and top three team fundraisers will win a place on an Intrepid trip – its 10-day Vietnam Express Southbound itinerary.

Intrepid Chair Darrell Wade said: “Raising just £130 can keep a child at risk in school for one year. £180 can reunite a trafficked victim with their family and provide them with emergency support to start over.

“By fundraising or sponsoring the Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, you can easily yet dramatically change the lives of children and families in need.”

Intrepid Foundation General Manager Biheng Zhang added: “Participating in or sponsoring the marathon walk is our chance as an industry and as travellers to give back.”

People can sign up for a mini (10km), half (21km) or full (42km) marathon on the  fundraising page. All donations will go directly to Blue Dragon.

A local walk in London will take place from 8am on 10 September, starting at Richmond Park. More information on the route here and register here.
