As Grenada celebrates a half-century of independence this year, with activities planned across all three of its islands, two new luxury hotels are also getting ready to welcome new guests to the Spice Isle.
Six Senses has chosen Grenada as the location for its first Caribbean hotel, Six Senses La Sagesse, located in a secluded spot in the south of the island, while the already-established Silversands Resort is opening a second, more intimate property, the boutique Silversands Beach House.
Six Senses La Sagesse
Nestled in a sheltered cover in the south of Grenada and designed to blend into its natural surroundings, Six Senses La Sagesse is due to open in May.
This luxurious property will have 56 eco-friendly pool suites and 15 beachfront or hillside villas with one, two or four en-suite bedrooms. For families or groups, suggest one of the five four-bedroom villas perched on the Bluff, one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after locations, which boast 270-degree views of the ocean.
All guests will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, with a raw bar and wood-fire grill at the signature SeaFire, farm-to-table classic comfort dishes at Callaloo, and South American vibes and Caribbean cocktails at the poolside Panquai Breeze Bar.
For the ultimate in relaxation, the two-storey Six Senses Spa, overlooking a lagoon, offers indigenous spice-infused treatments, all in a sustainable environment. There is also a gym, a yoga pavilion (aerial yoga is also an option) and hamman, while outside there’s a sauna with panoramic views, a hot pool, plunge pool and Kneipp therapy pool
Silversands Beach House
A sibling to Grenada’s luxurious Silversands Resort, the Beach House has 28 suites, some are right on Portici Beach while the others are perched on the cliff edge. Located at the highest point of the cliffside are two ocean view suites, both with two bedrooms, kitchenettes and wraparound patios with the most prized views of the turquoise ocean beyond.
The Beach House restaurant, Azzuro, promises to offer a fusion of Caribbean and Mediterranean flavours. There’s a traditional pizza oven and an extensive wine list for guests to peruse, but they are also able to dine at any of the restaurants at the larger Silversands Resort. In fact, Beach House guests have access to all the facilities at Silversands, and a Mercedes-Benz van will provide a free shuttle service.
Back at the Beach House, there’s a 42-foot infinity pool with ocean views, and a Silversands Spa offering signature treatments, and a range of excursions available to guests, including snorkeling and diving from Silversands’ private boat, Blade.
Silversands Beach House, which is just a 15-minute drive from St George’s, had a soft opening in mid-December and plans to be fully operational during the first quarter of 2024.
