VIVA Cruises has announced plans to sail on the Douro for the first time next year on its new ship, Porto Mirante.

The Douro sailings will begin in May 2025 and will feature trips to and from Porto, with overnight stays in the Portuguese city.

The itineraries have been added to the operator’s newly launched programme for 2025, which features 64 itineraries on European rivers.

New for 2025, Viva One, Viva Two and Viva Enjoy will offer shorter sailings from January, while Viva Two will sail five-night Danube trips as well as five-night crime-themed cruises.

Viva Enjoy will connect Amsterdam, Budapest and Vienna for the first time this autumn, with seven-, 10- and 14-day itineraries. It will also offer wellness cruises from Frankfurt.

VIVA Cruises is also adding new ports of call in the Netherlands (Lelystad, Middelburg and Bruinisse) and Germany (Braubach) for next year.

CEO Andrea Kruse said: “We recorded increased demand last year, particularly from international markets. We want to meet this demand in the coming year with new departure and landing ports, new routes and new content.”
