Adventure operator Explore has re-introduced a 10-night tour of Northern Janan for 2024.

The Sapporo Snow Festival trip includes a cruise on an ice breaker in the Sea of Okhotsk and a train ride to Japan’s annual Snow and Ice Festival in Hokkaido on Japan’s northern island.

MD Michael Edwards said: “We are seeing huge demand for Japan post Covid especially during cherry blossom season, so adding Northern Japan brings a great alternative that highlights the lesser-known cultural aspects and wintry landscapes of Japan.

“Places like Tokyo and Kyoto get really busy during peak season, so if you don’t like crowds of tourists, visiting in low season will be right up your street.”

The trips costs £3,945 per person (excluding flights) and there are departures on 2, 3 and 4 February 2024.
