Wizz Air has launched nine new routes from Cardiff Airport, its fourth UK base.
Flights take off today to Tenerife and Lanzarote, to be followed by services to Alicante, Faro and Palma tomorrow, Larnaca on Sunday, Heraklion on 13 April, Corfu on 16 June and Sharm el Sheikh on 1 November.
In total, Wizz will offer more than 330,000 seats from Cardiff on the nine routes.
The airline is recruiting cabin and flight crew for its new flights from Wales and will hold an open recruitment day at the Holiday Inn Cardiff City Centre on 14 April.
Cardiff Airport CEO Spencer Birns said the launch of Wizz Air’s flights ‘mark a turning point’ for the airport in its post-COVID recovery.
“Our customers in Wales have been asking for a more cost-effective choice for many years,” he added.
“What makes this launch so exciting is that Wizz Air is an ultra-low-cost airline that will help build competition and offer improved choice to people living in Wales.”
Wizz fares start from £12.99 one-way.
