Winter storms hitting much of the US – including Florida and the north-east coast – have caused power outages and fight cancellations.

Several regions across the country have battled extreme weather conditions over the past day, with Storm Finn bringing heavy winds and dangerous conditions.

In the south it has been reported that Florida’s panhandle has been hit by several tornados, with 49 counties declaring a state of emergency.  In Tampa, theme park Busch Gardens closed early on Tuesday due to the weather conditions, but is due to reopen at 10am local time today (Wednesday).

At least three deaths were reported across the southern states due to Storm Finn, according to the Associated Press.

Weather alerts are in place in north-east states, including New York and New Jersey, due to blizzards and storms.

CNN also reported that nearly 900,000 customers were without power last night and that more than 1,300 flights were cancelled on Tuesday due to the conditions.
