Budget carrier Spirit Airlines grounded a number of its flights last Friday in order to inspect ‘a small section’ of 25 aircraft.
The airline has a fleet of 204 Airbus aircraft.
The US airline told media the action was being taken out of ‘an abundance of caution’, but it did not specify the reason.
Spirit said the impact on its network was expected to last for several days.
More than 10% of the airline’s flights were cancelled last Friday alone.
