Two passengers on Celebrity Millennium have tested positive for COVID during the ship’s routine end-of-cruise testing.

The guests were sharing a cabin on the Caribbean cruise and were tested 72 hours before disembarkation.

Celebrity parent company Royal Caribbean said the guests had no coronavirus symptoms and are currently in isolation, where they are being monitored by its medical team.

It added: “We are conducting contact tracing, expediting testing for all close contacts and closely monitoring the situation.”

All crew and 95% of passengers onboard the seven-day Caribbean cruise, which left St Maarten on 5 June, are fully vaccinated.

The cruise is the first in North America since the start of the pandemic and the first Celebrity ship to resume sailing.

Celebrity Millennium has enhanced safety measures, plus guests were required to wear facemasks in the terminal prior to boarding, but not on the ship.
