TUI has issued a statement to reassure customers after one of its aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in the Canaries.

 

The Boeing 767 was flying to Manchester from Cape Verde when the cockpit window cracked.

 

Flight TOM217 landed safely in Gran Canaria, where passengers were transferred to another aircraft.

 

In a statement, TUI said: “We would like to assure customers that instances of this nature are extremely rare.

 

“The safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and flight crew undertake rigorous training that exceeds all regulatory requirements to prepare for incidents such as this.

 

“Following the incident, a new aircraft was promptly sourced and all passengers were flown home.
