The Foreign Office has issued a warning to British travellers about bringing vapes into Mexico.

The country has banned the use of vapes in public places and threatened to fine people up to £150 if they are found using them.

The Foreign Office has updated its advice to say: “It is illegal to import electronic cigarettes, vaping devices, and solutions into Mexico.

“If found in your belongings by customs officials, these will be confiscated; resulting in being fined or detained.”

The Foreign Office has also warned that it is illegal to buy or sell vapes in Mexico, although travel advice sites say they are on sale in some shops.

Mexico has a total ban on smoking in public places.
