The boss of a homeworking agency that launched four years ago is setting up a new brand to target high-spending, ultra-luxury clients.

Travology MD Lucy Clarke is looking to recruit about five agents for the new Opulenta brand, all of which must have experience of the ultra-luxury market.

Lucy already has 18 agents signed up to Travology, but she said Opulenta will be run as a separate business with different homeworkers.

“I feel that it’s better to have two separate brands,” she explained. “At Travology, we can everything but we tend to steer towards affordable luxury, we don’t sell anything like Silversea, we do sell higher-end hotels but they tend to be more affordable luxury than ultra luxury.

“The affordable luxury market is amazing, it is still lucrative, but we are missing that ultra luxury niche that we can really tap into.”

With Opulenta, which Lucy is hoping to launch in mid-October when her new website is up and running, she is expecting to sell properties such as Ritz-Carlton, Oberoi, Burj Al Arab in Dubai, One&Only and Soneva’s hotels in the Maldives.

“It can be really hard advertising five-star Iberostar next to five-star Ritz-Carlton. With a different brand I think it will bring a lot more of that ultra luxury business,” she added.

Lucy, who was previously a Team Leader with luxury brand Inspiring Travel, said she is looking for homeworkers who have worked with other luxury brands or are well-travelled in that sector.

“If you are selling that level of luxury you’ve got to know the products, you’ve got to know everything. You’ve got to know your stuff about the properties and the cruise lines,” she said.

“Sometimes high-end clients will ask questions no-one has asked before, or they’ll want a unique experience, so agents really need to know this product.”

Lucy said the sort of requests agents will have to handle from high-end clients could include help with arranging a marriage proposal, a personal shopping experience, or a meal in an unusual location, such as a museum.

Once Opulenta is launched, new recruits will be able to decide which brand to join, she added. Lucy can be contacted on [email protected]
