Travel Counsellors’ corporate travel specialists clocked up £4.5 million of sales during a week in May, making it the second best ever.

During the month, sales have reached 154% of the level reached during May 2019.

The homeworking group said its consultants had outperformed predictions by the Global Business Travel Association, which forecast annual business travel spend wouldn’t surpass pre-pandemic levels until the end of 2024.

The US is the group’s best-selling destination, pushing the UK into second place. South Africa is third.

Specialising in the SME (small media enterprise) sector, Travel Counsellors is finding that lead times have returned to a pre-pandemic average of 11 days.

Group and incentive business travel has also returned, with Travel Counsellors reporting the value of many bookings exceeding £500,000.

Travel Counsellors has also gained 13% more new clients compared with the same period in 2019.
