TravelBank Holidays sold 400 seats on two private charters from Glasgow to Seville within days of Rangers FC qualifying for the UEFA Europa League Final, even though it had no more than 20 tickets for the match.

The seats, costing £949, were snapped up by eager fans unable to get regular scheduled flights to the Spanish host city.

TravelBank, a member of Protected Trust Services, had secured the first flight and launched an advertising campaign by 6pm on 6 May, just the day after Rangers qualified for the final.

The first 189 seats for the 20-hour trip were sold within 24 hours and MD Lloyd Ingram arranged a second flight to meet the demand.

Both flights were sold out three days later.

The company extended its opening hours to handle enquiries, and it also offered agencies throughout Scotland 11% commission.

It is the fourth charter for football fans offered by TravelBank since its launch in 2020, all of which have sold out.

“Planning has already started for the next season and we are exciting to bring more sports breaks to our customers soon,” added Lloyd.
