Tourists are among four people who died when a small sightseeing plane crashed into Iceland’s second largest lake.

Rescue teams located the bodies of the four occupants of the Cessna 172 late on Friday night, after it went missing over Lake Thingvallavatn on Thursday.

They included tourists from the US, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as the pilot.

More than 1,000 people were involved in the search, after the aircraft, which took off from Reykjavik on Thursday morning for a two-hour sightseeing tour, got into difficulties.
