Parts of the Balearic islands of Majorca and Menorca are dealing with severe flooding following two days of thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Worst affected are the east of Menorca and north of Majorca, including the tourist area of Port de Soller on Majorca’s northwest coast.

Some areas have also been left without power, or with intermittent supplies.

People have been posting shocking videos of the flooding in Menorca on X/Twitter.

The entire island of Majorca remains on yellow alert for rain and storms until 6pm today, with the heaviest rainfall expected in the north and northeast of the island.

Flights in and out of Palma airport in Majorca were badly disrupted on Thursday, with easyjet services to Bristol, London and Southampton among those that were cancelled. Many other flights were severely delayed, including flights to and from the UK with British Airways, easyJet and TUI.

However, airport authorities said services at Palma were returning to normal today, with only minor disruption.
