Over 6,000 people have signed a petition calling for a vote of no confidence in Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, just hours after it was launched.

The organiser, Alex A, set up the petition, called: Vote of no confidence in Grant Shapps: you have failed to support the travel industry, on Thursday evening, after the Government took Portugal off the green list.

Alex A, said: “Grant Shapps, the UK’s Transport Minister is failing the British people and the UK travel industry.

“On 7 May, Grant Shapps said: ‘Travel will restart from 17 May…bringing long-awaited relief to hard-hit airlines, airports and the tourism sector.’

“Fast forward to today, 3 June: after the planned removal of Portugal, only one destination now on the green list is accessible and accepting Brits who are not vaccinated: Gibraltar.”

The petition adds: Grant Shapps is no longer a competent leader. He is letting the travel industry fail.
