The 800 Heathrow workers who were due to strike this week have suspended industrial action while they vote on a new deal.

The staff, who assist passengers with connecting flights and provide security and trolley services, had already called off two days of strikes last week, while discussions between their union Unite and management took place.

Now they’ve suspended planned industrial action on 9-13 May, after Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) put forward a new offer.

Unite Regional Officer Wayne King said: “Talks have progressed well over the last two days and we will now be balloting our members on a new offer. As a goodwill gesture, we will be suspending the remaining strike action this week while our members are consulted.”
