Thailand will implement its new tourist tax from June this year, the country’s tourism minister has confirmed.
Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said implementation of tax, which is expected to be 300 baht (just under £7.50) is still pending cabinet approval.
The destination announced it was considering a tourist tax last year and wants to funds to go towards developing tourist destinations and helping visitors who’ve been involved in accidents, Mr Ratchakitprakarn said.
It’s expected the tax will be a one-off fee.
