A suspected terrorist who was allegedly plotting to attack tourists on a Benidorm beach has been arrested in Spain.

The Sun reports the 26-year-old was arrested following a raid in Girona.

He is alleged to have tried to get hold of weapons to carry out a potential attack in Benidorm, according to a Spanish judge.

The man, named as Moroccan Fath Allah Benhachem Grarrass was remanded in custody.

The FBI worked alongside Spanish cops and the Civil Guard to identify the suspect and make the arrest, a police spokesman revealed.

“International cooperation has been essential in this investigation with the FBI playing a vital role in identifying and neutralising this suspected terrorist,” the spokesman added.
