The Tenerife Tourism Corporation has been confirmed as a new associate partner of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) UK & Ireland.

The long-term agreement will enhance Tenerife’s brand awareness, bringing it into CLIA’s wider community of cruise lines, travel agents and associate partners.

The island is a regular port of call on cruise itineraries and the tourism corporation is seeking to highlight the attractions and activities visitors can experience during their visit to the island.

Tenerife will now be represented at a number of CLIA’s travel trade events, as well as gaining brand exposure on the industry body’s website and inclusion in its yearbook.

The membership forms part of the island’s new marketing strategy and positioning. It recently obtained official Biosphere certification from the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI), which recognises Tenerife as a sustainable international destination.

Tenerife Tourism Corporation CEO David Pérez said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to promote Tenerife as a destination for cruises and encourage passengers to experience the island’s diverse offering, even if it they only spend a few hours here.

“We look forward to working closely with CLIA and the trade, and welcoming cruisers to our beautiful island once again.”

CLIA UK & Ireland Managing Director Andy Harmer said: “We look forward to supporting Tenerife’s tourism representatives, as they further build their relationship with the travel trade and gear up for the return of cruise visitors.”
