Award-winning actress and performer Hannah Waddingham has been named as Godmother to Princess Cruises’ newest ship, Sun Princess.
The Ted Lasso star will take part in the naming ceremony in the Port of Barcelona on 23 April.
Other Godmothers to Princess ships include the late Diana, Princess of Wales; Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales; Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Martha Stewart.
Hannah received multiple awards for her performance as Rebecca Welton in Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso, including a Primetime Emmy, as well as two individual Golden Globe nominations.
She will next been seen in the Universal film The Fall Guy opposite Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, released on 3 May.
Earlier this year, Hannah earned a BAFTA TV Award nomination for her own Apple TV+ holiday special, Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas.
She made her worldwide hosting debut in April 2023 at The Olivier Awards (she returns as host for the 2024 ceremony on April 14) followed by the BBC Eurovision Song Contest 2023, for which she has gained her second BAFTA nomination and won The Royal Television Society award for Best Entertainment Performance in 2024.
Her upcoming movies include Sony animation film Garfield, out on 24 May, and in 2025, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
“We’re delighted to welcome the illuminous and elegant Hannah Waddingham to serve as Godmother for our sensational new Sun Princess,” said Princess Cruises President John Padgett.
“Just like Sun Princess, she exudes sophistication, beauty and wonderment through her inspiring work as a talented and award-winning actress and performer. We’re truly honoured Hannah will officially name our most impressive, luxurious and stunning Love Boat ever created, and join an esteemed group of Princess Godparents including members of the Royal family.”
Sun Princess started its inaugural cruise season on 28 February and currently is sailing a series of Mediterranean voyages.
