Agents have just over two weeks to suggest ways in which ABTA work better with members, in what campaign group TARGET has described as an ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ to influence association policy.

Co-Founders Graeme Brett and Jill Waite are meeting senior bosses at ABTA in early December and have asked agents to suggest areas of concern or better ways of working together.

Mr Brett told Travel Gossip: “We’ve had a dozen or so really great ideas. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for agents to tell ABTA what they need from the association.

“It’s an open agenda to throw ideas at ABTA.”

He added: “TARGET has been in contact with ABTA since we were formed, having various discussions with them. ABTA’s been really welcoming to the ideas that we have been putting forward to them so far.

“In the past there wasn’t really a format for ABTA members to put forward suggestions as to how they should represent them. We now have a chance to influence how ABTA goes forward in the future.

ABTA has been going for 70 years and is the go-to body. “Travel has changed so much in the last two years and everyone needs to adapt to new ways of working.

“We want members to tell us the support they need. Everyone has different requirements, depending on whether they work in a shop, a call centre or as a homeworker.”
