More than 21% of travel agent enquiries are for travel to Europe, but 19% are for the Caribbean, the US also accounts for 19% and the Indian Ocean 17%, according to a poll by PATA UK & Ireland.

Four out of five travel agents are getting regular enquiries for travel to the Pacific Asia region, it said.

Within the Pacific Asia region, Australia is getting the most interest, followed by the Maldives and Cambodia.

Of the 20% of agents who are yet to see enquiries return for the Pacific Asia region, they said clients have either ‘already booked a holiday elsewhere’ (27%) or are ‘taking a staycation’ (3%).

Only 9% of customers said they can’t afford a holiday at the moment.

Some 15% of clients still have concerns over COVID.

A fifth of clients are travelling this summer, while half of new bookings are for winter 2022/23 and almost a third are for next summer.

Despite the UK cost of living crisis, 42% of customers are happy to spend more and upgrade their trip,  but 57% are still seeking value.
