Wizz Air’s social media team appeared confused about the location of the airline’s new Middle East base this week.
The airline posted an announcement on Twitter about the launch of flights by Wizz Abu Dhabi to Krasnodar in southern Russia.
It wrote: “Would you like to visit South Russia from the United Arab Emirates? Good news: you can now travel directly from Abu Dhabi to Krasnodar with WIZZ. Book a flight now and find out why the city is nicknamed “Little Paris”!
Unfortunately, the emoji that accompanied the tweet was the Egyptian flag instead of the United Arab Emirates flag.
The error was spotted by an aviation expert who suggested Wizz Air ‘may want to change the flag’ on the tweet.
Budget airline Wizz launched its Abu Dhabi subsidiary in January this year with its first flight to Athens.
