Vital workers at Southampton Airport are planning a series of one-day strikes, with the first due to take place on 5 November.

Two others are planned for 12 and 19 November.

Airside operations controllers, firefighters, technicians and engineers are due to join the industrial action.

The Unite union said the workers had gone ‘beyond the call of duty during the pandemic’, yet they haven’t had a pay rise since 2019.

A spokesman for AGS Airports Ltd, which owns the airport, told the BBC: “We value our people and are determined to find a resolution.

“In an effort to do so we are engaging the dispute resolution service ACAS, with a view to finding a way forward that works for all parties.”
