Solmar Villas says it has secured allocations at more than 200 properties from the James Villas portfolio, ensuring agents can rebook their clients.

Trade Sales Manager Dave Ison said: “We were saddened and shocked by the news that James Villas is closing, and we offer our condolences to everyone affected, including staff, customers and agents.

“Solmar Villas is here to help, and are pleased to announce that we’ve managed to secure a large number of properties from the James Villas portfolio, meaning that your clients can re-book the same villa, for the same dates.”

Meanwhile, SPL Villas says is plans to expand next year and is interested in hearing from former James Villas team members.

Managing Director Edward Frampton-Fell, who previously worked for James Villas, said: “I was personally saddened to hear the news about the closure of the James Villas brand earlier this week.

“I have very fond memories of my time there and the team with which I worked. It is a particular shame as our data shows that demand for villa and short stay rentals is strengthening – something that was reinforced by ABTA’s Holiday Habits report published this week which showed that the number of people renting a house on holiday rose to 12% last year.

“We’re responding to that with some significant, trade-friendly, strategic enhancements to our offering which we will announce soon, and would be very happy to hear from anyone was on the James Villas team – particularly those from customer operations roles – who’d like to be a part of what we expect to be a busy 2024.”
