Off Broadway Travel in Welwyn has invited former Transport Secretary Grant Shapps to ‘pop in and book some sunshine’ after he lost his job.

After Mr Shapps tweeted he was leaving the post, which he described as ‘a privilege’ and ‘a job I loved’, Off Broadway Travel Director Tricia Conroy-Smith offered to book him a break.

She replied to his tweet by saying: “After all of this you’ll need a holiday! You know @OffBroadwaytrv make excellent coffee. Pop down and book some sunshine.”

Mr Shapps visited the team last year after the directors invited him to come and spend time with them to find out all about a real travel agency and the problems they had faced during the pandemic.

It came about after Mr Shapps implied travel agents were a thing of the past.

Mr Shapps has said he’ll continue as a backbench MP.
