Saudi Arabia has launched a new 96-hour stopover visa for passengers travelling on the kingdom’s two airlines, flynas or SAUDI.

The free-of-charge Stopover Visa is part of Saudi’s attempt to attract 100m foreign tourists a year by 2030.

Applications for the visa will be automatically available through the SAUDI and flynas booking sites up to 90 days before travel. Saudi Tourism Authority says it takes only three minutes to apply.

The Stopover Visa allows visitors to stay in Saudi for up to four days, and they can also use it to break up long-haul flights.

Holders will be eligible for a complimentary one-night hotel stay during the stopover when booking through SAUDI.

Custom 24, 48, 72 and 96-hour itineraries have been developed for tourists.

The tourism authority said that Saudi’s plan of reaching 100m tourists a year by 2030 are ‘well on track’. It added: “The stopover visa is a huge step in turning Saudi Arabia in to a world-class tourism destination.”
