Ryanair has opened a new base at Newcastle Airport, from where it will operate flights to 19 destinations this summer.

Of the 19 destinations, 10 are new summer routes for the airline from the northeast airport.

Ryanair will base two aircraft at Newcastle, creating 60 new jobs.

In total, it will offer more than 130 weekly flights from Newcastle this summer, 40 more than in summer 2019.

The new routes are: Chania in Crete, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Krakow in Poland, Menorca, Milan, Paphos, Riga in Latvia and Zadar in Croatia.

Ryanair Director of Marketing Dara Brady said: “The opening of this base and introduction of these new routes from Newcastle reinforces our commitment to increasing connectivity, travel options and inbound tourism to the area as Ryanair will now offer 40% more capacity than it did pre-pandemic.

“We are delighted to open this new base and strengthen our relationship with Newcastle Airport, which will now host a fleet of two Ryanair aircraft.”
