Stricken passengers due to travel with P&O Ferries between Larne in Northern Ireland and the Scottish port of Cairnryan will no longer receive any help from the operator in making alternative plans for their cancelled services.
The ferry operator, castigated for its video sacking of 800 staff, said in a tweet it is ‘no longer possible’ for it to assist people due to travel on the route.
It gave no reason for its inability to help.
“Services remain suspended. It is no longer possible for us to arrange travel via an alternative operator on this route,” P&O Ferries said. “For essential travel customers are advised to seek alternatives themselves”.
Meanwhile, people travelling between Dover and Calais have been told to arrive as normal for their sailing despite services today being cancelled. Instead, it has told passengers to head to the DFDS check-in booths.
“We will get you away on an alternative carrier as soon as possible,” P&O Ferries said.
Tonight’s services between Hull and Rotterdam have also been cancelled with passengers with non-essential travel plans urged not to turn up.
Those with ‘essential travel needs will be guided by our port teams’, the firm tweeted.
The Government is coming under pressure to take legal action against the operator following its move last week to sack staff and replace them with agency crew.
