Qantas is to restart international flights two weeks earlier than planned and has set a new date of 1 November.

The airline will operate up to five return flights a week from Sydney to London and up to four return flights a week from Sydney to Los Angeles.

More will be added if there is demand.

Passengers who had already booked to travel to and from LA or London and want to travel earlier can change dates and will not have to pay a change fee.

The restart announcement comes as New South Wales announced plans to drop quarantine for fully vaccinated overseas visitors from 1 November.

However, Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the international border would not be opening wider than Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families.
