Palma, the capital of Majorca, is expected to be full this coming bank holiday weekend, with most boutique hotels having sold all of their rooms.

Other hotels say they’re at 90% capacity.

All 78 hotels in the city and Cala Major, the resort closest to the city, are open, Javier Vich, President of the hotel association told the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

The CAEB restaurants association in Palma said that ‘top-quality’ restaurants in the city and the rest of Majorca will be totally sold out this weekend.

The number of passengers arriving at the city’s airport over the May Day bank holiday weekend is expected to exceed pre-pandemic records, added the publication.

The city has been boosted by two major events: the Palma International Boat Show, starting today, and the sold-out Mallorca 312 cycling on Saturday.

Visitor numbers will also be swollen by the arrival of cruise ships in Palma over the weekend.
