Agents have expressed dismay after industry training platform Online Travel Training (OTT) announced it has ceased trading.
The company runs online training programmes for many travel suppliers including airlines, cruise operators, destinations, tour operators and theme parks, as well as GDS and IATA training.
Managing Director Julia Feuell has not responded to requests from Travel Gossip for comment, but an automated email reply to clients, seen by Travel Gossip, says: “It is with deep regret that OTT has ceased trading.”
The message adds that rescue and insolvency specialist firm McTear Williams and Wood is being appointed to wind up the company.
“If you have any queries, please contact Luke Carless by email [email protected],” the email message concludes.
On Tuesday night, ABTA LifeLine Director Trudie Clements told delegates at the ABTA Convention in Bodrum that the company had ceased trading.
She urged people to support OTT team members, two of whom are attending the conference.
Agents have shared their sadness on the Travel Gossip Facebook group after hearing the news.
Gareth Harding, who owns Travelosophers by Gareth Harding, posted to say: “Such a shame to see that Online Travel Training has ceased trading.
“A valuable resource to travel agents and operators, both new and experienced. My thoughts are with the employees.”
Agent Greig Ewins described the news as ‘sad’. He said: “I’ve really enjoyed their training courses and they’ve been very valuable to me.”
Jules Taylor, of Taylor Made PA Travel Booking Services said OTT was ‘a great source of training’. She added: “I did quite a few when I returned to travel as a refresher.”
Westoe Travel owner Graeme Brett said OTT was ‘a valuable tool for us all’.
Agent Aaron Petty said OTT was a ‘very valuable part of travel’. “I spent a lot of time fresh out of school starting my career by completing these courses. My thoughts go out to all the employees too. I didn’t expect this at all.”
