Oslo-based startup Flyr has named Edinburgh as its first UK destination.
The airline, which launched last June, will offer flights from the Scottish capital to Oslo from 8 April.
Flights will operate twice a weekly, on Mondays and Fridays.
It will compete on the route with both British Airways and SAS.
Flyr currently operates on 10 routes, using a fleet of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
It will launch a total of five new routes in the spring, when it will take delivery of six 737 MAX jets.
