Global pop star Nicole Scherzinger performed on P&O Cruises’ Arvia yesterday (16 March) as she officially named the line’s latest ship at a ceremony in Barbados.

The Pussycat Dolls singer, who is the 5,200-passenger ship’s godmother, joined a line-up featuring British singer Olly Murs and broadcasters and DJs Sara Cox and Trevor Nelson in the Caribbean.

Agents in the UK were able to watch the ceremony via a link online.

President Paul Ludlow said Nicole would create ‘spectacular shows’ for the P&O Cruises passengers sailing on Arvia in her role as entertainment partner.

Nicole performed a string of hits including Jay Hawkins’ I Put A Spell On You as passengers and local dignitaries, including Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, watched on.

Paul said: “Today is a very proud moment for us at P&O Cruises. To name our newest ship in the Caribbean and have it broadcast as a live event is a first for us.

“We’re so fortunate to have the ability to travel and witness extraordinary moments such as this one today. P&O Cruises has had a ship based here in the winter season for many decades.

“Both P&O Cruises and Barbados have a rich and proud history and therefore it is very fitting we name our newest ship, Arvia, under this Caribbean sun.”
