A new homeworking company is looking to recruit franchisees who want to earn money from higher-value holidays and more complex itineraries.
Destinations Desired, a member of the Travel Trust Association, officially launches this week, with its homeworkers known as Tailor-Made Experts.
It is a sister company to online agency Kosmar.
Kosmar set up its own in-house homeworking group in 2018, and the homeworking division has grown during the pandemic, leading Managing Director Jhy Worsnop-Hesford to set it up as an entirely separate business.
Jhy said: “While we faced challenges in the pandemic like other travel companies, we saw it as an opportunity to reinvent how we do business.
“Kosmar was an OTA focused on mainstream beach destinations in return for low margins.
“However, we quickly learnt bookings through our homeworking division had higher basket values and more complex itineraries.
“So we knew we had to invest and innovate in this high-growth area.
“The downtime in the pandemic allowed us to create two businesses with two different clientele and different marketing strategies.”
Jhy said the average booking value for Kosmar is around £1,200, while the average booking value for Destinations Desired holidays is £3,267. Commission paid on the average booking for Destinations Desired is about £273, including all deductions.
Destinations Desired is planning on recruiting existing travel agents as well as those from other industries, who will be trained by the company’s new Travel Academy.
There are currently 11 Tailor-Made Experts who have migrated from Kosmar’s homeworking division and Jhy said he’d like to recruit up to 15 more by the end of the year.
The company plans to grow to 250 homeworkers by the end of the decade.
