New Icelandic airline PLAY has applied for a permit to operate transatlantic flights.

The carrier, which launched a service from Reykjavik to Stansted in June, wants to offer open up transatlantic travel from British passengers via Iceland.

If successful, PLAY will start its US-bound flights next year.

The airline received delivery of its third aircraft last month.
