The Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for the Netherlands after the country raised its national terrorist threat level.
In the update issued on Tuesday, the FCDO said terrorists are ‘likely’ to carry out attacks in the Netherlands.
It added that attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreigners.
In the most recent terror attack in the Netherlands, in 2019, four people were shot dead and six were injured in Utrecht.
In 2018, two people were seriously injured in a knife attack at Amsterdam Central Station.
The FCDO said: “On 12 December 2023 the Netherlands raised its National Terrorist Threat Level – this means that there is a real chance of a terrorist attack in the Netherlands.”
