Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled two cruises on Norwegian Escape after the ship got stuck on a sand bank as it left the Dominican Republic on Monday.

The Norwegian Escape was eventually refloated the following day, but has remained in Puerto Plata ever since while being checked for damage.

Guests have now been told the rest of their cruise is cancelled and they will be sent home.

In a letter, NCL said it was cancelling the cruise ‘in an abundance of caution’.

The following cruise, due to depart on 19 March from Port Canaveral in Florida, has also been cancelled.

NCL said it will fully refund guests, who will also be offered a 100% Future Cruise Credit to be used any time up to 25 March 2023.
