ITT Chairman Steven Freudmann has paid tribute to Angela Day after his fellow ITT director was forced to place her business, Affordable Car Hire, into voluntary liquidation.
“My heart goes out to her, it must be a very traumatic time,” Mr Freudmann said, following Ms Day’s decision to close the company she founded almost 20 years ago.
He told Travel Gossip that Ms Day told him last week that she would not be seeking re-election to the ITT board.
“Angela been a tremendous supporter and board director of ITT for almost a decade,” Mr Freudmann (pictured) added.
“I feel very sorry for Angela and her family. It’s not easy when things are out of your control and clearly over the last two years things have been out of control for most of us.”
Several agents are understood to be chasing refunds from Affordable, including members of Advantage Travel Partnership who have been told to lodge claims with the liquidator.
The consortium’s Head of Commercial John Sullivan said: “We had agreed preferential payment terms in place with Affordable Car Hire to minimise our members risk/exposure. Despite this, there will be a small number of members awaiting a refund, in these instances we will direct them to the appointed administrators of Affordable.”
G Adventures EMEA Managing Director Brian Young tweeted: “Sad day to see Affordable Car Hire shut its doors, would have been a very tough and devastating decision…”
