Airlines and operators have moved quickly to add options to the holiday destinations that were added to the green list on Friday.
Wizz Air is restarting flights to five destinations on the green list from 17 May onwards: Faro and Lisbon in Portugal, Tel-Aviv in Israel, Reykjavik in Iceland and Gibraltar.
UK Managing Director Owain Jones said the airline is poised to ‘ramp up operations quickly when restrictions ease’.
Jet2 reported a surge in interest for Portugal over the weekend. The operator’s programme will resume on 24 June.
CEO Steve Heapy said: “We have seen enormous pent-up demand from holidaymakers for some time now, and this rush of bookings to Portugal just shows how ready people are to get away from the gloom to escape to the sunshine.”
TUI has added new flights to Madeira and Faro from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
The first flight to Funchal will depart from Birmingham on 17 May and the first additional flight to Faro will operate from Bristol on 20 May.
Ryanair has added extra seats to the Algarve (pictured), Lisbon and Porto.
