Staff at a Miles Morgan Travel agency have had to evacuate after a huge fire broke out at a shop two doors down.

Local news reports say the fire broke out around 9am on Monnow Street in Monmouth town centre.

Multiple fire engines attended, the road was closed and Gwent Police told people to avoid the area.

Miles Morgan Travel posted on its Facebook page: “You may have heard that there has been a fire in Monmouth, just two doors down from our shop, meaning that the team has had to evacuate.

“We just wanted to let you know that our staff are fine, the phones are still being answered and we’re expecting to get into the shop soon!”
