Flights to and from Mauritius have resumed after Tropical Storm Eleanor passed by the Indian Ocean island.

The international airport restarted operations at 18.45 hours local time on Thursday.

However, passengers are advised to contact their airlines for information about their flights and not to go to the airport unless they receive confirmation of their revised departure times.

In a message on its website, the airport said: “In order to ensure a smooth resumption, access to the check-in hall of the terminal will be temporarily restricted to departing passengers only.”

The Foreign Office said: “Cyclone class warnings in Mauritius have now been lifted.

“Severe Tropical Storm Eleanor is moving away from Mauritius. However, there may still be risks to safety.”
